My phone was on the table, and I mindlessly scrolled through social media, seeing pictures of friends on vacations we could never afford, in houses that weren’t filled with the constant hum of financial worry. John was working double shifts at the warehouse, his back aching every night, and I was stretching every grocery dollar until it screamed. We were treading water, and I was so, so tired. That’s when an ad popped up, bright and flashy. I usually ignore them, but this one was for a place called sky247 betting. The name sounded… expansive. Like a wide-open sky, the opposite of my cramped, budget-conscious world. Out of a sheer, desperate curiosity, I tapped on it.
