350 Years of Winemaking
Since 1670 and for more than 350 years our family has been dedicated to the art of viticulture on the slate steep slopes of the Mosel and Ruwer. Now in the 11th generation Dr Carmen von Nell Breuning continues this tradition and leads the family’s Dominikaner estate in the Ruwer Valley.
We deliberately focus on cultivating the classic grape varieties Riesling and Pinot Noir. In our vineyards which drop steeply and ruggedly down to the Ruwer we carry out all vineyard work by hand. As the oldest sparkling wine estate in the Ruwer Valley we also produce sparkling wine using the traditional bottle fermentation method.
Since 2019 we have been working according to biodynamic principles in both vineyard and cellar making us pioneers in the Ruwer Valley. For eleven years already we have refrained from the use of any herbicides.
We take our time to produce authentic wines. Wines of great elegance and longevity. Distinctive in taste.

Craftsmanship & Care
Winemaking is a matter of balance: between action and restraint, trust and knowledge, humility and courage, hard work and refined craftsmanship, between respect for tradition and a vision for the new.
It requires a deep understanding of nature’s rhythms. It demands patience, for the cycles of viticulture are long.
This is the foundation of my craft. It is what I dedicate myself to—every day, and every year.
